About

Peter Mennim studied Fine Art at Reading University in 1973. He travelled extensively in Asia over the next 10 years pursuing an interest in Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta. On returning to this country he earned a living as an illustrator, working in a wide range of styles and media. He illustrated many book jackets including Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy; movie posters including ‘The Crow’, and ‘Highlander II’; record album covers including ‘Rum Sodemy and the Lash’ by the Pogues, and innumerable illustrations for magazines, illustrated books, billboard posters, and for the advertising and packaging industries. Later he worked as a portrait artist. Commissions included 4 very large group portraits with over 100 individuals, for the Merchant Taylors Guild of York, the Merchant Adventurers Guild of York,  Wolfson College University of Cambridge, and for the Merchants Guild of Edinburgh. Individual portrait commissions have included many professors and fellows of Cambridge University.
Recently he has focused on his own more personal work.
